Despite the challenges they encounter, we firmly believe that every young person deserves access to high-quality education and comprehensive personal and social development opportunities. That's why, at RedEverywhere, we are dedicated to empowering young people who are at risk of exclusion by providing them with the very best in alternative education and holistic support.
The statistics speak volumes: only 4% of excluded children pass their English and maths GCSEs, a stark contrast to the 64% national average for state schools. Shockingly, just half of excluded youths maintain training, employment, or further education six months after leaving school. Moreover, the correlation between exclusion and future involvement in crime is undeniable, with half of adult prisoners having been excluded during their school years. Furthermore, young people involved in gangs are six times more likely to have faced exclusion, as highlighted by assessments conducted by children’s services.
Behind these statistics lies a staggering economic burden. The estimated cost of exclusion per young person over a lifetime is a staggering £370,000, encompassing expenses related to education, benefits, healthcare, and criminal justice. This accumulates to an average of £2.4 billion for every year's cohort of permanently excluded pupils.
